Information on resource 'ASPIC 6dF Galaxy Survey physical parameters'

Physical parameters estimated by Le Phare and CIGALE for a selection of 6dF Galaxy Survey sources.

This resource contains the catalogue of physical parameters for a selection of sources from the third data release (DR3) of the 6dF [1] survey. They where estimated using Le Phare [2] and CIGALE [3] by the Gazpar [4] service as part of ASPIC [5].

We only used the 6dF sources having both 2Mass and SuperCosmos Bj, rF, J, H, and K magnitudes. The magnitudes uncertainties were computed for J, K, and K comparing 2Mass data with J band Denis observations. Also, note that for Le Phare the Chabrier initial mass function (IMF) was used but for CIGALE it was the Salpeter IMF.

The 6dF DR3 spectra are available on the Virtual Observatory at the Royal Observatory of Edinburgh. You can use the target name to retrieve the spectra associated to an object.

Any use of these data should explicitly state that they come from the Final Release of 6dFGS and cite both the 6dGS DR3 paper (Jones et al 2009) as well as the original 6dFGS survey paper (Jones et al 2004, MNRAS 355, 747). The 2004 paper remains the most comprehensive description of the survey but the 2009 paper details many important subsequent developments and changes.

ASPIC

ASPIC (Archives Spectrophotométriques Publiques Intégrées au CeSAM) is the public spectro-photometric archive of the Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille data-centre (CeSAM, Centre de donnéeS Astrophysiques de Marseille). We give access to spectro-photometric data with value additions like physical parameters, photometric redshifts, and spectra line measurements.
